Sunday mornings......
Good morning!
It's a Sunday morning today and I still wake up early like on other days of the week. Waking up early, even before the sun rises, is a life long habit. This is one habit that I would not want to give up. I love the early morning time, the stillness, the slight chill, the lack of light and the abundant silence. Everyone is asleep. The world around me is just slowly stirring and debating whether to wake up or snooze a while longer. One or two birds flutter up and then go back to their nook to rest some more.
This is a time for conversing with my Creator, to speak to him undisturbed, to give thanks to all those who have contributed to me being me and to design the day in a manner that will do me proud.
I would not like to exchange this time of the day for anything else, except to be up in the Himalayas at 12,000 feet and feel the biting chill give way to the gentle warmth of the waking sun.
The hurry burry of the day is still far away and I can make plans and organise myself to perform well through the day.
Every morning I walk Alfie, my Lab, and stretch myself for half an hour. Watching him chase every smell and every sound around him simplifies the day and brings attention to the now. It slowly warms up every bone, muscle and cell of my body. Another half hour of walk, run or fitness routine rounds off the morning exercise and sets me up for the day. Today I skipped the exercising. Maybe do it later.. I can afford to dawdle a little today, can't I. It's a Sunday after all.
But why am I boring you with the details of my morning? There is a message here. We all need to rest, take stock, realign ourself and nurture our inner being. Rushing, rushing all the time is a recipe for disaster. Why are you born? Why have you been given this day? If you find the reason for waking up today, the reason that will make your life more meaningful to you, then your day will be worth it. You would have won.
Otherwise, all the other efforts and battles that you indulge in, become meaningless motions in the dance of life.
Find your purpose for the day. This is best done first thing in the morning. Write down a few things that if you do today will make your life more meaningful. Once done, check what else you can do today by being still and conversing with yourself and your Creator. make that short list and do it again.
Your life will blossom into a tapestry of wonder and awe. You will discover the awesome you.
Be blessed. Be happy. Be loved. Be loving. God Bless you and your dreams!!!
