Day #12 – Acceptance

What does Acceptance mean to you? Take a moment to answer this in your head and then read on.
For me, acceptance is when I first acknowledge and accept a thought that is born in my head before I judge or criticise it. I have noticed that when I do that without adding filters, I am in flow with the universal current. If I don’t, I end up struggling or taking a more difficult path. Take for example while driving, I have a choice of multiple routes to reach my destination. I could take OMR or ECR while travelling into the city. I could take the service lane or stay on the main road while trying to save time and avoiding the rush at the signal. I notice that when I take the first option that pops into my mind, I have a free run. When I critique it and intellectualise it, then I end up tying myself in knots and taking the wrong decision. The same thing happens while parking. We find a spot and want to take it, then we second guess it and think that we will get one closer to our destination and then we end up going round in a circle to find that first free spot again.
Our mind is connected with our Creator and if we blindly trust it, it leads us up the right path. If we second guess it, guess what, we come second.
So it is when we decide to accept or not accept people and situations that crop up in our life. Acceptance is not surrendering of your rights. It is a belief that the Universe means well for you and will send you the right people and circumstances that you need to fulfill your life purpose. We can adopt it in our daily life and discover the enormous potential that the Universe has placed in you. The maestros and geniuses have tapped into it and surrendered themselves to it so the Universe flows through them and manifest in their work. So the world is able to enjoy their music or art or creation.
In my work as a branding consultant and designer, I have seen the power of acceptance. When I’m in an accepting mood, the design flows through. If I resist the ideas that are born in my head, I end up struggling to create the right design. The same goes for writing. If I allow the ideas to flow through, then the writing gets easier. If I critique and edit as I write, it gets more difficult to get anything down to paper. The morning pages is a great tool to get you to unblock and allow the universal creative energy to flow through you. Try that.
The more I accept what the Universe is offering me, the happier and more successful I get..
