100 Days Gratitude Challenge 2017
Yesterday we had the Annual Awards function of my BNI region Chennai CBD-A. The event is called BOSS 2017 (Business Owners Success Summit). BNI is a referral marketing organisation that originated in USA, 30 years ago. Today it has over 200,000 members across 7000 chapters over 70 countries in the world. This forum is very useful for small and medium business owners like me.
What was so remarkable about yesterday that I need to write this post today?
This was a gathering of over 350 business owners who were here together to network, learn, have fun and create new connections and opportunities for growth. The preparations for this event take close to 3 months and everything worked well like clockwork. Started on time; had breaks on time; resumed on time; and closed on time.
The speakers were fantastic. Rajiv Talreja, Meena Srinivasan and Gaurav Maurya held the audience spell bound with their crisp 40 minutes speech which would change several business owners’ life. !2 chapters put up 12 scintillating performances and the winner was Global chapter who put up a version of Avatar on stage that was mind bogglingly real. The theme of their 5 minute performance was “save the forests” since trees are the ever living symbol of “Joy of Giving”
What was so notable yesterday that 350 business owners coordinated with each other without rubbing each other the wrong way.  There were no egos on display. No one-upmanship, no unhealthy competition, no non-cooperation. It was a fabulous testimony of unity, togetherness and Givers Gain.
I’m grateful to the BNI movement, the founders and EDs of this region, our DCs, the leadership teams of each chapter and each and every member who showed up or worked to this event’s success. It was well worth the work put in the last few months for this day.

    Thank you for the wonderful article. The show was amazing and we at Global want to GIVE the region a memorable performance and wanted to do a big awe and the well aligned team made it possible.

Day 74: Smile 100 Day Gratitude Challenge Today I was going with my friend to the city. At the toll he handed out a biscuit packet to the toll collector after swiping his toll card.  The toll collector first wondered  what was being handed to him and then when he realised what it was, his face broke into a big smile. It absolutely lit up his face and all of us in the car smiled in return.  It struck me then that a smile will almost always elicit a return smile. Day #53:     Ability to stand up after every fall (100 Day Gratitude Challenge) Have you seen a baby learn to walk? The baby makes countless attempts to stand before actually standing isn’t it? The baby first learns to roll over and after many weeks becomes good at it. Then she would attempt to sit up and will fall in the attempt a thousand times before actually being able to sit up. Finally, the baby will hold on to something and pull herself up to be able to stand on her feet. She will wobble back and forth and plonk down and then promptly try once again.
