Day #18: Skyscapes
100 Days Gratitude Challenge 2017
Yesterday returning home after a hard day’s work I was feeling a little drained and ready to hit the sack early. It was late evening and night was marching in. I was being dropped off home by my friend when we both noticed the sky where a little rainbow was peeking out from the clouds.
We would not have noticed it if we had not looked up as we drove home. We would not have noticed it if our heads were preoccupied with a hundred thoughts and worries. But if you care to let life in as it is happening we would.
We go through life carrying our past and the future all the time. We look around us through these glasses only. So most times, we miss what is in front of us. There are little miracles happening around us every day. If we look up at the sky and its changing hues, shades and colours through the day, we would see the magnifence of our Creator. There is a play of drama, mystery, romance, humour, and more in our sky on a daily basis especially at dawn and dusk.
We can realise that we are part of a grander plan rather than a creature that is struggling to make its mark in its limited sphere of influence. Together we can create a larger canvas that would be resplendent in its beauty and magnificence. Alone we are a speck of no significance with just a promise of the larger canvas buried inside us.
We are in an age of collaboration and we could learn from the dramatic display happening in our skyscapes. One molecule or one cloud or one colour by itself is not remarkable but when they combine to create the display there is something beautiful that is born for us to marvel at before it dissolves into something else.
Life is constantly evolving and if we get caught up in the past or the future we miss the present that is gift wrapped in front of us.
I’m grateful for the magnificent display that the Creator puts up for us in the sky daily. It keeps me connected with the whole.
