Day #41: Our body. Our temple (100 days Gratitude Challenge)
Day #41: Our
body. Our temple

(100 days Gratitude Challenge)
My body is my
temple. If I keep it clean, I stay blessed. If I abuse it, I suffer. It is such
a complicated and sophisticated piece of machinery that it has the ability to
self-correct and repair itself. It has the ability to take a lot of abuse and
still come back to balance. But as any other piece of machinery there is a
limit to how much we can abuse it and it will become too late if we cross that
limit.
Did you know
that our body has some default processes that take place without our conscious
intervention?
·
Breathing/Respiration
·
Digestion
·
Expulsion
·
Sleep
When we
breathe right, we stay healthy. Airconditioned environments are not healthy for
long periods of time. Take breaks where you go out into the lawn and breathe fresh
natural air
When we feed
our body the right foods, then digestion happens smoothly and your body is
provided the right nutrients and energy to perform well
When we sweat
and have normal bowel movements the body is expelling all the toxins and
cleansing our body so that it can function in top condition for you.
When you get
adequate sleep – 6 to 8 hours, the body has time to repair and rejuvenate so it
can function well the next day. Don’t short change yourself by denying yourself
of sleep and at the right time. Night time is meant for sleep. Research
suggests that sleeping between 11 pm and 6 am is very important for the organs
of your body. Different timings, different organs are repaired. If you miss
that slot your body is denied of the benefits of sleep.
No part of the
body, from the smallest cell to a complete body system, works in isolation. All
function together, in fine-tuned balance, for the well being of the individual
and to maintain life. Disease such as cancer and death represent a disruption
of the balance in these processes.
Take care of
your body. It’s a million dollar machine and should be cared for with all your
heart.
I’m
grateful for my body.
