Day #37: Social Media (100 Days Gratitude Challenge)

Day #37:               Social Media
100 Days Gratitude Challenge
Yesterday I attended a Social Media Workshop by Social Eagle. Here I learned how social media has taken over our lives and companies are learning about us through our digital footprint and are able to target us for advertising their products and services.
Many of us live on facebook, twitter, Instagram or other social media sites. We let the world know our thoughts, what we do, our relationships, our opinions, our interests and our pet peeves. We are letting it all hang loose out there and there are people who are watching this and making up their mind about us or targeting us for commercial gain.
There are over two billion people out there on social media and it is growing rapidly every day. It has democratized journalism, helped millions become authors and opinion makers and given the populace a voice that can be heard and trended.
In the last 10 years, the rapid strides taken in this space has transformed the human evolution and is taking us to a place that was unimaginable just 20 years ago. We’re sitting at the cusp of the revolution taking place on earth where information is available to anyone and everyone and our ability to reach a specific target group is now in our hands and available very cheap compared to traditional print and TV media.

The workshop itself was very well conducted by Dharaneetharan and Aishwarya of Social Eagle. They shared so much in just 6 hours and I learned about this fascinating animal called social media and how to use it to promote a brand or a business.
I’m grateful to them and to social media for the enormous opportunities available to marketers to reach out to their target group.
I’ve started using these tools and I hope to help hundreds of businesses to reach out in a cost-effective and targeted manner to their prospective clients.
Very soon most of the ad spend in the world will be through this medium only
