Day #49: Soup (100 Days gratitude challenge)

Day #49: Soup (100 Days gratitude challenge)

Did you know that soup is one of the oldest forms of cooked food that civilised man is used to? After the discovery of fire and the use of utensils, the first cookware was the soup pot. Ancient cavemen gathered around the fire and threw in anything they fancied into the boiling pot and the delicious concoction was shared among the tribe.

From those times on, soup is one of the easiest and most looked forward to part of a meal. Today we just sit in a restaurant and order for it and we are served it elegantly in a bone china set and we delicately sip the hot soup and dab our lips with the crisp clean napkins and feel satiated.

There are as many varieties and variations of soup as there are people.  A thick soup can become a broth – a meal by itself. Yesterday I had manchow soup. I’ve been nursing this cold for almost a week and the manchow soup is the best thing for a cold. It sears a path through the blocked nostrils and reaches the inside of my lungs to warm me up. Hmmmm!! That’s what the doctor should order for a cold.

Cold nights! Raining nights! Dreary evenings! Whatever the mood, a soup can clear your nasal passages and warm up your insides so you feel alive again. It’s easy to make, and easy to drink, and it’s very easy to digest. Soups are the closest things to heaven at certain times of one’s life. And it’s easy for you to fix it for yourself or for someone you love. And if you want it even easier, just order it in.

Go on, pamper yourself with your favourite soup and enjoy the monsoons. Have a great day.
